ACADEMIC CALENDAR (Summer 2018)


Key dates:

  • New student orientation: Sunday, May 20, 2018
  • Classes begin: Monday, May 21, 2018
  • Classes end: Monday, June 18, 2018
  • Final Exam period: Friday-Monday, June 15-18, 2018
  • Course final grades due: by noon Friday, June 29, 2018

Program duration: 4.5-5 weeks; meeting hours: 9-10 hours weekly (lectures & seminars) (45-50 contact hours)


Schedule of classes: M-F 9:00-5:00 pm

  • Session A: 10:00 am-12:00 pm (M-F)
  • Session B: 1:00-3:00 pm (M-F)
  • Session C: 3:00-5:00 pm (M-F)
  • Session D: 9:00 am-12:00 pm (M, W, F)

Classrooms:

  • Wiener Library (Session D, lecture classes of max. 25)
  • Seminar Room 1 (Sessions A or D; B & C, seminars of max. 10)
  • Seminar Room 2 (Sessions A or D; B & C, seminars of max. 10)

Outdoor classrooms (weather permitting):

  • Small theatrical area (Sessions A-D, lecture classes of max. 25)
  • Cistern Pergola (Sessions A-D, seminars of max. 10)
  • Dig Simulator (Session D, lab class of max. 15)

Wiener Library Hours: M-F 12:00-7:00 pm


Weekends: faculty-led archaeological fieldtrips and excursions

  • Extended weekend trip (3 days): Athens
  • Weekend trips: Olympia, Pylos, Delphi, Monemvasia, Aegina/Hydra-Spetses
  • Day trips: Corinth, Tiryns, Nafplion, Argos, Epidaurus, Sparta-Mystras

Program duration: 15 weeks; meeting hours: 3 hours weekly (lectures & seminars), 6 hours weekly (labs) (45-50 contact hours)


Schedule of classes: M-F 9:00-5:00 pm

  • Session A: 9:00-10:15 am
  • Session B: 10:30-11:45 am
  • Session C: 9:00 am-12:00 pm
  • Session D: 1:30-2:45 pm
  • Session E: 3:00-4:15 pm
